175 years of St George’s Cathedral

Since 1848, St George’s Cathedral has been a beacon of light for Catholics living in London and across the South East of England. For over 150 years it has been the mother church for the Archdiocese of Southwark, which numbers 176 parishes, 163 schools and 60,000 Catholics. The Cathedral is also the seat of Archbishop John Wilson.

Become a ‘Friend’ of St George’s Cathedral

Some Friends live or work nearby the Cathedral.  Some live far away but want to support St George’s Cathedral with a yearly or regular gift towards its upkeep. Through this collaborative generosity, you can support:

  • the maintenance and restoration of this beautiful building
  • the Cathedral Choir
  • the social outreach, ministry and mission of the Cathedral
  • contribute to the everyday life and work of St George’s Cathedral

For more than 175 years men and women of faith have cared for and supported St George’s Cathedral, so that we can enjoy it today in all its beauty and magnificence.

Becoming a Friend of the Cathedral means you will continue their legacy of generosity, ensuring future generations of Catholics living and worshipping in London and the South East of England have a place of hope, prayer and worship to turn to.

The Cathedral doesn’t receive any funding from the Vatican and relies on donations to maintain the fabric of the building, support the choir, and help cover with the day to day running costs.

Please support the mission and ministry of St George’s Cathedral with a gift today!
