The Vatican, or the Holy See, is the seat of the Bishop of Rome or the Holy Father. It is the principal episcopal see of the Catholic Church which dates back to early Christianity, and today is a sovereign state governed by international law. Since 1929 it has maintained diplomatic, temporal and spiritual independence from Italy through the Lateran Treaty.
The following guidance is offered by the Archdiocese of Southwark in response to COVID-19 Health Crisis. The documents highlights the importance of continuing to create a safe environment in places of worship and taking steps to monitor the situation locally. The emphasis is on the collective endeavour of all involved in Church life to maintain the exemplary good practice which has been exhibited throughout the pandemic in our parishes.
