A launch event for a new book written by Archbishop Wilson - ‘Pondering and Praying Vatican II’ - will take place on Wednesday 6 March 2024 from 6 pm, for a 6.30 pm start in Amigo Hall.

The Second Vatican Council, otherwise known as Vatican II, was a landmark event for the Catholic Church shaping its relationship with the world.

It remains a significant and much discussed moment in our Church, but how much is it truly understood?

Archbishop John Wilson has written a short introduction, Pondering and Praying Vatican II, to help people to discover, ponder and pray some of the Council's essential themes.

The introduction has been written for easy access, to help people understand what was said at Vatican II and what it means for the life of Catholic Faith in the Body of Christ. It is perfect for those who want to know more about Vatican II but are unsure where to begin, with the resource requiring no previous or specialist knowledge. 

The book offers an introduction to the four key Constitutions of Vatican II, providing an overview of their themes and what they mean. It's great for those who want to understand this crucial moment in the Church's history and can be used by parishes, groups and individuals alike. 

There will be refreshments and a short presentation. Books will be for sale during the evening.
