Rite of Election Live-Stream

This important annual event in the life of the Archdiocese will take place at St George’s Cathedral, Southwark on Saturday 17 February 2024 at 12.30 pm, with gathering music from 12 noon.

This service marks a decisive step forward for those who have been preparing for several months to receive the Sacraments of Initiation, that is, Baptism, Holy Communion and Confirmation.

During the service, the Church 'elects' catechumens and candidates and recognises them as being ready to receive the Sacraments, which are outward signs of inward grace, at the next major Church celebration; most often at Easter.

Candidates and catechumens are asked to meet their RCIA coordinator in Amigo Hall on the day, where teas and coffees will be available from 10.15 am.

After registration, catechumens will need to sign the Book of the Elect in the Baptistry (to the right as you enter the Cathedral). After registration, candidates can take their seats directly.

All are welcome in person or online: the service will be live-streamed here, or see the YouTube screen below.
