Caritas Southwark is focussing on four priority workstreams. Supporting Migrants and Refugees, The Pastoral Care of Older People, Supporting Young People and Food Security and Economic Exclusion.

We encourage parishes and schools to work together to do to offer in one or more of the following:

1.Tackle poverty.

2. Empower people to develop their full potential.

3. Establish communities where people belong and are included .

4. Be advocates for people who need us to be their voice.

Migrants and Refugees

Support for migrants and refugees is one of the action pillars that has received a wide support across the archdiocese . A good number of organisations are active in dedicating their operations to the needs and support of migrants and refugees. This network is growing and embraces parish-based activities and other charities around the parish communities. Continue reading

Pastoral Care of Elders

Isolated elderly parishioners may be known to parishes, however, many other people, such as those with mental or physical disability, those who are neurodivergent or have a lack of a social network or employment can fall into this 'very lonely' category too and those trapped at home caring for others. Supporting Young People

Caritas Southwark focuses on identifying young people in our parish communities and schools, who are vulnerable and could be led to knife crime, gangs, drugs and similar activities that put their welfare and future at risk. Continue reading
