This is a newly created role and offers a great opportunity for someone to come in and work on a single commission responsible for overseeing and promoting justice and charitable activities within the Archdiocese. This role reports to the Head of Caritas.

Role Title: Caritas, JPIC and RCI Operations Coordinator

Reports to: Head of Caritas

Place of work: Bowen House, SE1, London with some hybrid working

Salary: Circa £35,000-£38,000 d.o.e

Hours: Full Time, 35 hours per week, Monday-Friday

Holidays: TBC (probably 34 days entitlement)

FTC for 18-24 months

 

Key Functions (General)

The Caritas coordinator will be required to co-ordinate all, communications and social media activities in support of Caritas, JPIC and RCI. The role will be the first point of contact for the public and also be responsible for the development of data/ impact and research activities for Caritas and its partner agencies.

 

Key Responsibilities – please note that this list is not exhaustive

Communications and Online Presence

  • Drafting and preparing departmental newsletters
  • Drafting and supporting content for the Website/Resource Centre and ensuring these are updated
  • Provide support for Social Media channels in liaison with RCAOS Communication department
  • Respond/ process Email and telephone contact for Caritas, JPIC and RCI
  • Develop publicity materials including posters, flyers, etc

 

Research/Data / Reporting Workstreams

  • Devise and implement the collection of data sets for Caritas, JPIC and RCI focussing on key work streams using online survey methods.
  • Prepare reports using data/ research for the CSAB, ABC and Commissions for JPIC and RCI.
  • Map Social action and charitable activities within RCAOS
  • Develop a data base within which to record parish and school social action activities in order that CSAB has an overview of all social action, JPIC and RCI activities within RCAOS

Networks

  • Map the activities of the Caritas JPIC and RCI networks and maintain contact with key parishes, schools’ volunteers, organisations and groups within RCAOS.

Events

  • Plan and organise events and webinars for Caritas, JPIC and RCI
  • Circulate Invites and publicity for Caritas events
  • Coordinate event set up locally and centrally
  • Ensure that events are managed within GDPR and H+S and ICT compliancy

Meetings

  • Publish dates for all meetings in including the CSAB, and JPIC and RCI commissions on the Calendar.
  • Book venues and meeting rooms
  • Circulate papers as requested
  • Manage Caritas zoom account

 

Person specification

This is a professional role working for the Church and as such it is essential that the job holder has a commitment to and practice in the Catholic Faith with a deep understanding of Catholic Social Teaching. You must also be a self-starter and be able to work independently.

  • Relevant experience of working in an office and hybrid working environment
  • Knowledge and experience of Church Networks and how to optimise engagement.
  • Understanding and experience of working with a range of partners but including people experiencing disadvantage
  • An understanding of the social and moral teaching of the Catholic Church
  • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to project a friendly, professional manner, both in person and on the telephone
  • Excellent organisational skills, able to prioritise and meet tight deadlines
  • Ability to work within a team
  • Ability to work with complete discretion and confidentiality
  • Excellent Microsoft Office Software package knowledge (Word, Excel, Publisher) and willingness to develop IT skills. In including desk Top Publishing
