“We stand with you” Archbishop John tells the people of the Holy Land

At a Vigil for the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem, Archbishop John tells Cardinal Pizzaballa he stands with him and the people of the Holy Land.

At a Vigil of Investiture for the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem (EOHSJ), Archbishop John Wilson said “We must create solidarity, not manufacture barriers. We need to promote unity, not division. War destroys lives and homes. It tramples dreams and steals hope”.

In an act of solidarity with Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, His Beatitude Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa OFM, Archbishop John said:

“We stand united with you, Your Beatitude, and, through you, with the suffering Church and people of the Holy Land”.

Cardinal Pizzaballa attended the Vigil at St George’s Cathedral as part of the 70th anniversary of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem in England.

In his homily, Archbishop John called for people to pray “fervently” and “without ceasing” for peace” before “our Eucharistic Lord Jesus”.

In the Order of Service, HE Michael Byrne KGCHS, Lieutenant of England and Wales for EOHSJ, said:

“Through humanitarian aid, pastoral care and education we offer help to those Christians suffering in the Holy Land, against the background of continual prayer and devotion to Christ our Saviour and the Blessed Virgin Mary, Queen of Palestine.”

On his visit to England, His Beatitude Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa, will preside at the Mass of Investiture at St George’s Cathedral, Southwark on Saturday 30 November and will also preside at Mass on Sunday (1 December) in Westminster Cathedral.
