Gregorian Chant: An Introduction with the Southwark Diocesan Music Committee
The Southwark Diocesan Music Committee will lead an online session exploring Gregorian Chant on Tuesday 25th June 2024 from 8-9 pm.
During the evening the Music Committee will explore the history of this beautiful music, also known as plainchant, and teach participants learn, read and sing from its notation. Guidance will also be given on understanding its liturgical function and how to take the music into parishes and schools.
The session is designed for those with little experience of singing Gregorian Chant, but some musical or singing experience.
Singers, directors, teachers and clergy are most welcome, as well as anyone with a passing interest in the repertoire.
