St George’s Cathedral Choir records Rosary in Gregorian Chant
Joyful Mysteries of the Rosary recorded in the Lady Chapel at St George’s
For the Month of the Most Holy Rosary, celebrated in October, the Choir of St George’s Cathedral has recorded the Joyful Mysteries of the Rosary sung in Latin Gregorian Chant.
The beautiful recording, made in the Lady Chapel at St George's Cathedral, Southwark, features Jonathan Schranz, Diocesan Director of Music, and Dorothy Hoskins, Lay Clerk.
The Second Vatican Council, in Sacrosanctum Concilium, stated that: “The musical tradition of the universal Church is a treasure of inestimable value, greater even than that of any other art”. By listening to the Rosary in Gregorian Chant and meditating on the Joyful Mysteries of the Most Holy Rosary, you will be drawn into a deeper relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ - through the enchanting music and through the intercession of His Mother.
The Cathedral Choir sing every Sunday at the 10am (Family) and 12noon (Solemn) Masses, along with all other major Diocesan Masses and services.
The Choir used the chant setting from Sanctissimum Rosarium, a book of Gregorian chant for praying the Rosary by Dr Peter Kwasniewski.
