Archbishop John celebrates 200 years of the Cenacle Sisters

Archbishop John Wilson celebrated Mass at Corpus Christi, Brixton Hill, on Saturday 26 September to mark the 200th anniversary of the foundation of the Congregation of Our Lady of the Cenacle.
Speaking to the Sisters and parishioners, the Archbishop described the day as "a festival of gratitude," giving thanks for two centuries of "prayer, of sacrifice, of accompaniment, of retreats, of discernment, of catechesis, of hospitality, but most of all of hidden fidelity of lives given generously to Jesus and His Church."
Drawing on the anniversary motto "Of Clay and Gold," he said that "the gold is the grace of God," and that God "never waits for us to be perfect before he loves us."
He spoke of the Cenacle's continuing mission in a noisy world, telling the Sisters their charism is "to be that place, that upper room where people can be helped through you, to find silence, to hear God's Word."
The parish also gave thanks for Sisters Ann, Marion and Patricia, who have supported Corpus Christi in prayer and good works over many years. A reception in the school followed the Mass.
