Assisted Suicide Bill deafeated
Archbishop John's statement on the defeat of the Assisted Suicide Bill
In response to the defeat of the Assisted Suicide Bill in the House of Commons on Friday 11 September, Archbishop John Wilson said:
"I am grateful to everyone who made their voices heard in defence of life, especially by writing to their MPs and sharing their messages of hope. By the grace of God, MPs have listened and voted against assisted suicide. Together, we have shown that we will not stand by while the sacredness of life is under threat.
"As the many thousands at the March for Life demonstrated, we are a people of life and a people of joy. We must continue to be witnesses for Christ by courageously and joyfully making the case for life - from conception until natural death."
