St George's Cathedral was full for the annual Marriage Mass, as husbands and wives came to celebrate wedding anniversaries ranging from 1 to 60 years.
In his homily, Archbishop John said:
St Paul writes ‘husbands, love your wives as Christ loved the Church’. And how did Christ love the Church? By giving Himself up. By handing Himself over. Through the Sacrament of Marriage, the self-gift, the handing over of a baptised man and woman, becomes an effective sign of the covenant. The bond between Christ and His Church” - Archbishop John Wilson
