He is Risen! Alleluia!

Archbishop John Wilson presided at the Easter Vigil at St George's Cathedral on Holy Saturday, baptising and receiving new members into the Catholic Church as the faithful celebrated the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.

Preaching at the Vigil, Archbishop John Wilson said:

"Dear brothers and sisters in Christ. Happy Easter, every blessing and joy in the Risen Lord!...

"The message we receive tonight, the Easter proclamation is that Jesus Christ is risen from the dead. He has overpowered darkness. He has defeated sin. He has conquered death and one day He will come again in glory. For He is alive and He lives in you by His Holy Spirit...

"This evening, let me say just a very simple word of joy and delight that some of the people here this evening are to receive the sacraments of new life. Some of our brothers and sisters will be baptised this evening. Others will be received into full communion with the Catholic Church. They will all receive the sacrament of confirmation and come and receive with us the Holy Eucharist. This is a beautiful sign of growth in the life of the Church..."
