Clergy appointments – March 2026

The Archdiocese of Southwark announces the following appointments.

Assistant Priests

  • Father Pius Kenechukwu Nwankwo of the Diocese of Onitsha, Nigeria has been appointed as assistant priest of St Bede, Clapham Park. We also thank Father Pius Asuquo Duke MSP, who has moved on as assistant priest to a new appointment with his Order.
  • Father Felix Obi of the Diocese of Nnewi, Nigeria has recently arrived in the Archdiocese and has been appointed as assistant priest in the parish of St Teresa, Morden.

Parochial Administrators

  • Father Jude Njoku Ogbuanu of the Diocese of Umuahia, Nigeria will be taking up a long-term appointment for 3 years. Initially, he is appointed as Parochial Administrator of the parish of St Thomas a Becket, Wandsworth West, during the time of recovery of Monsignor Matthew Dickens. The appointment commences on Monday 23 March 2026.
  • Father Jackson Sebastian Mavelithayil of the Diocese of Kannur, currently serving as Sub-Dean of St George’s Cathedral, has been appointed as Parochial Administrator of The Holy Family, Thanet, and will be moving to take up this new appointment after Easter.

New Sub-Dean

  • Father Joseph Owusu-Ansah, currently parish priest of The Holy Family, Thanet, has been appointed as Sub-Dean of St George’s Cathedral, and will be moving to take up this new appointment after Easter.

New Chaplain

  • Father Peter Mutinda Muinde CMI has taken up an appointment as Chaplain to the Convent of Our Lady of Fidelity, Upper Norwood. The appointment is initially for 6 months, with the possibility of it being extended. It began in February 2026.

Religious/Societies

  • Father James Campbell SJ and Father Lawrence Nam SJ, both members of the British Province of the Society of Jesus, have recently returned from appointments overseas and will be resident at the Jesuit House, 14 Edge Hill, Wimbledon, London, SW19 4LP.
  • Brother Martin Mikuskiewicz OFM Cap, a priest of the Great Britain Delegation of the Order of Friars Minor Capuchin has recently returned to the Archdiocese as a member of the Franciscan Community, Erith. He will be available for priestly ministry within the community and also in the Deanery if so required.
  • We are grateful to Father Cãtãlin Ieremia Budãu OFM Conv and Father Giles Zakowicz OFM Conv, both members of the OFM Conv province of England and Wales, based in Manchester, who will be helping at St Patrick’s, Waterloo on an ad-hoc basis over the coming year, as and when the pastoral need arises.
