Archbishop John asks pupils: what does it mean to know, love and serve Jesus?

Students and staff from schools across the Archdiocese filled St George's Cathedral for the Schools Commencement Mass for Catholic schools and colleges, with pupils joining the procession carrying their school flags.
In his homily, Archbishop John invited children and young people up to the front to answer a simple but searching question: what does it mean to know, love and serve Jesus? Their answers were beautiful. One pupil said we can know Jesus through the Eucharist. Another said we love him "because he saved the world." A young primary school pupil said we know Jesus loves us "because he died on the Cross to save us from our sins."
Archbishop John told the pupils and staff gathered: "We have good news to share about our faith, and so each of you, all of us, has a place in the life of the Church."
The Mass was a joyful celebration of Catholic education across the Archdiocese, marking the start of the school year with prayer, witness and thanksgiving.
