Junior ICT Technician
£28-32k per annum | Permanent | Fulltime | Bowen House, Lambeth North & Vaughan House, Victoria Travel to parishes and diocesan sites required | Closing date 30th April | Interview early May
About the role
This is an excellent opportunity for someone at the start of their ICT career. You’ll provide first-line technical support across the Archdiocese, helping a wide range of users with day-to-day IT issues while developing your skills under the guidance of experienced ICT professionals.
You’ll work with a variety of technologies and environments, offering both office-based and on-site support across parishes and diocesan locations.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Support
- Provide first-line ICT support via phone, email, and in person
- Troubleshoot issues with Windows laptops and desktops, printers, mobile devices, and basic networking
- Set up user accounts, email addresses, and permissions
- Assist with installing and maintaining hardware and software
System Maintenance
- Support routine updates, patches, and system checks
- Maintain accurate asset inventories
- Assist with monitoring backups and data integrity
User Support & Training
- Support clergy, staff, and volunteers with varying levels of technical confidence
- Create simple user guides and documentation
Field & Event Support
- Travel to parishes and diocesan sites to resolve issues or assist with rollouts
- Support the setup of IT equipment for meetings, events, and conferences
What We’re Looking For
Essential
- Strong interest in starting a career in ICT support
- Basic knowledge of:
- Windows operating systems
- Microsoft 365 applications
- PC hardware
- Networking fundamentals (Wi-Fi, routers, switches)
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Methodical approach with good documentation habits
- Willingness to travel across the Archdiocese
Desirable
- Experience supporting Microsoft 365, SharePoint or Teams
- Familiarity with Active Directory or Azure AD
- Basic understanding of cybersecurity best practice
- Prior helpdesk or technical support experience (paid or voluntary)
