St Vincent de Paul Society (SVP)

The St Vincent de Paul Society is looking for volunteers to help children and young people turn compassion into action through Mini Vinnies (primary school age), Youth SVP (secondary school age) and SVP1833 (ages 18 to 35).

As a Young Vincentians Development Officer, you would encourage and support these groups in schools, universities and parishes. The role is flexible and shaped around what you can offer, whether that’s one school or several.

What you might do

  • Support the adult leading a group in a school or parish as they get started
  • Visit schools and parishes, or give short assembly presentations, to share what SVP groups do
  • Help commission new groups with badges and handbooks
  • Offer occasional follow-up support, often just a termly check-in

What SVP are looking for

  • An interest in helping young people live out their faith through action
  • A heart for the mission of the SVP and the Catholic Church
  • Confidence, or a willingness to grow in it, speaking to small groups of adults or children
  • Availability for online training once a term and an annual in-person session

Experience in education is helpful but not essential, and you don’t need to be an SVP member.

Support provided: full training, travel expenses and a network of other volunteers. All volunteers have an enhanced DBS check, including the children’s barred list, and complete child safeguarding training.
