Irish Chaplaincy is seeking an experienced Community Outreach and Volunteer Manager to help extend its reach, strengthen its volunteer community, and provide support to older and vulnerable Irish people across London.
For almost 70 years, Irish Chaplaincy has supported Irish immigrants and people of Irish heritage across England and Wales, rooted in a Catholic ethos and Catholic social teaching. This is a hands-on role combining community outreach, casework, staff supervision and volunteer management, as the charity approaches its 70th anniversary in 2027.
You'll lead efforts to identify and engage isolated or vulnerable people, build referral relationships across London, and ensure volunteers are recruited, trained and supported effectively. You'll also line manage the Community Outreach Worker and hold a small caseload of your own, visiting people in their homes, hospitals and care settings to provide pastoral care, advocacy and practical support.
About you
You'll bring substantial recent experience in community outreach or engagement, face-to-face casework, and line managing or supervising staff, along with experience recruiting, training and supporting volunteers. Strong relationship-building, communication and organisational skills are essential, along with a sound understanding of safeguarding.
You should bring a warm, person-centred approach and a commitment to Irish Chaplaincy's Christian ethos and pastoral mission. An understanding of Irish culture and the Irish diaspora in Britain would be an advantage.
Regular travel across London and occasional evening or weekend work is required, along with an enhanced DBS check and the right to work in the UK.
